I chose Sutherland Models because they are a reputable agency in Toronto and world-wide. Also, they have represented supermodels such as Shalom Harlow and now represent such high profile models as Pamela Bernier. My favourite part of the modeling program was learning how to apply makeup from professional makeup artists. I have taken these application skills and still use them today to properly apply my makeup so I look natural and fresh for the clients. I would recommend the program to others because it’s a great way to learn the basics of modeling. The course is definitely a step in the right direction for aspiring models. The part of the course which I drew from when I walked exclusively for Calvin Klein was from the runway class. Walking down the runway I remembered to be confident, and stand tall- be poised. Though I refined my walk at Supreme in NYC before New York Fashion Week, the runway class was important to my career because it gave me an idea of “how to walk the walk.” The makeup classes have been 100% important to my burgeoning modeling career because as a model it is most important to put your best face forward to potential clients who are booking you for the jobs! My first photo shoot as part of my class helped me with my shoot in New York for V Magazine in that I got the results from my first shoot and I saw which angles and expressions work best , so I was able to bring that knowledge with me to the V shoot. The classes of the business of modeling were quite helpful when I started to model because I had learned what to bring to my shoots; modeling terms- I didn’t know what castings and bookings and options were before I took the course; and how I am expected to present myself at castings and jobs. The modeling course did give my confidence when I was in the V A Model Search because I knew that though I was just new in the business I had concrete background knowledge and first hand advice on what to expect and how the industry works.
